Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve, La Honda, CA 94020
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day with Docent Naturalists Nancy Weintraub, Bobbie Riedel, and Marie Faust Evitt on a moderately-paced hike along the Bay Area Ridge Trail from Horseshoe Lake to Alpine Pond. You'll explore mixed evergreen and chaparral habitats, as well as grassy ridges with sweeping vistas westward. Learn about how native peoples who have lived here for thousands of years took care of the land before the arrival of Europeans and discuss how these lands are protected for the appreciation of future generations. Bring a snack to enjoy along the trail.
Meet at the Skyline Ridge Circle Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Skyline Blvd. (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking area. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 45 minutes travel time.
