Time: 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

This 10-session course covers a range of intermediate level lighting topics for optimizing energy efficiency while maintaining quality in lighting. It is held on 10 consecutive Wednesday evenings 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm and should be taken as a complete series. It is intended as a follow-up to the IES Fundamentals of Lighting course (offered each fall), or to another lighting fundamentals class where lighting topics and terms have been covered. It earns 20 AIA LUs or 20 CEUs from IES. Each individual session is worth 2 CEUs.

This class content includes:
     - daylighting, sustainable lighting, and electricity for lighting practitioners
     - lighting economics, lighting maintenance, upgrading lighting systems in commercial and institutional spaces
     - lighting calculations and codes, standards and regulations
     - lighting controls and commissioning
The weekly meetings begin with a half hour networking opportunity, then a 2 to 2.5 hour class on a topic taught by an expert in that area.

Class size is limited to 30 people with some basic lighting knowledge. Most of the costs of the class are covered by PG&E's Pacific Energy Center, and all IES course materials, hosting and venue are included.  Registration is through the IES SF website.

Registration is two steps:
1. Pre-registration - includes submitting a short form, so we can hold a seat for you.
2. Registration - Within a few days, a link will be sent to your email to complete the registration process and complete payment.

Costs for the class are:
$50    IES Member or IES Emerging Professional
     $65    Non-IES Member

Important Information:
This intermediate course is funded by the Pacific Energy Center, and requires that a student have some basic familiarity with lighting. As part of the registration process at the IES SF website, please fill out your previous experience and/or education in lighting. We retain the right to approve your readiness for this class, since it moves quickly and assumes some familiarity with lighting terminology. Once reviewed, you will be sent a link to an IES page for registration and payment, and you will be placed on the roster.
