Volunteer with Grassroots Ecology and Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) to restore upland marsh transition zone habitat for local wildlife.
Expect to learn about the protection and ecology of our local baylands and to help take care of our public lands. During our time together, we will be managing invasive weeds. We will also engage in a broadscale weed suppression technique called sheet mulching. Volunteers will strip cardboard of nonbiodegradable material and cover target restoration areas with cardboard and mulch.
POST protects open space on the Peninsula and in the South Bay for the benefit of all. As a private nonprofit land trust, POST has been responsible for saving more than 87,000 acres since 1977. POST works with private landowners and public agencies to connect people and nature. Visit openspacetrust.org for more information.
