On the Congaree River, this park is the largest portion of old-growthfloodplain forest left in North America. Some of the trees are the tallest in the eastern United States. An elevated walkway called the Boardwalk Loop guides visitors through the swamp. The park is 26,539.22 acres (107.4 km2) and receives 159595 recreation visitors per year.
